As soon as the air turns crisp and the leaves start to change, I feel the pull towards cozy, autumn-inspired crafting. There's something so magical about this season, with its warm, golden hues and comforting smells of pumpkin spice that make me want to snuggle up with a warm blanket and a big cup of Pumpkin Spiced Latte.
Of course there has to be some knitting or crochet too. 🍁
A few years ago, I decided to bring some of that autumnal vibe into the flat by making crocheted pumpkins. I had a vision of plump little pumpkins, maybe with some crochet leaves and acorns scattered around for that perfect seasonal touch. But – I’ll be honest – I made one. 😅 Life got busy, my ever expanding WIP list distracted me with something else and my little pumpkin ended up as a cute solo decoration.
This year, though, I’m determined to change that! I’m making it my October goal to whip up a whole pumpkin patch of these cuties just in time for Halloween. As I write this post I’ve nearly finished with clue 1 of the MKAL so I’m going to use some of that time to whip up a few pumpkins.
One of my favourite patterns for this project is from The Pigeons Nest. If you haven’t checked out Pigeon’s designs you’re in for a treat. The pattern is simple enough for a relaxing evening in, but still detailed enough to give your pumpkins that cute, squishy look. Whether you’re a seasoned crocheter or someone who’s just getting started, you’ll love it!
For the perfect autumnal colourway I treated myself to a kit from Pigeon using seasonal yarn in the colourway Pumpkin Spiced Latte —and yes, it’s as delightful as it sounds! The warm, toasty orange and brown tones scream autumn and give my little pumpkin that extra something special. Whilst the kit comes in the form of a cowl pattern, for me it was perfect for pumpkins!
Regular viewers of my YouTube channel will also know that it’s no coincidence as Pumpkin Spiced Latte is also my favourite drink from a well known high street coffee shop chain… (I mean, who can resist that cinnamon-nutmeg goodness?). 🧶☕
I can’t wait to dive back into my pumpkin-making this month, and if you’re in the mood for some autumnal crafting too, I encourage you to try this pattern! Let’s fill our homes with the colours of autumn and fall, one pumpkin at a time.
Do you have any autumn-inspired knitting or crochet projects on the go? I’d love to hear what you’re making this season—whether it’s leaves, acorns, or something cozy to wear. Feel free to share your favourite patterns or drop a comment below!
Until next time… Happy crafting (and happy autumn! 🍂🎃✨)

I'm working on Stephen West's Loxley in Mary Maxim Natural Alpaca, a beautiful tan tweed. It's a hooded scarf, perfect for the fluctuating Fall temperatures.
For the last 3 years I've knitted a few pumpkins every year, so now I have a lovely collection. I love putting them out as it means its time to be cosy and wear our knitted garments. Loving watching your vlogtober and you working on your new Stephen West Mkal. Love the colours of your shawl. What a lot of stitches after week 1 clue. Take care. xxx
