I gave my friend a box of "January Joy" for Christmas a few years ago. 31 bags of treats to brighten the dark days of winter. It included mini skeins, 9inch sock needles, stitch markers etc as well as tea, chocs and other non-kntting things. I also included printouts of some suggested patterns. She loved it and it was great fun to put together
I love the idea of a non-Christmas Advent, but I know myself too well (no impulse control) and if I start looking into them, i'll be opening packages 365 days a year ;-)
I've bought mum an advent jigsaw this year for the run up to Christmas. But I'm going to put together an advent to accompany her through January and February. Lots of little treats like mini skeins to do stripy socks, stitch markers, knitting motions, scented candles, yummy teas etc.
I watched you last Advent as you opened your treats everyday. I loved the expressions on your face! They were joy to watch; I could feel the excitement I saw on your face! I am now expecting my first Advent this year.
It took me a moment to realise that this is an Advent for the countdown to the Film 🤭😄 I was wondering why you had opened a package for a Christmas Advent 😅 I love this idea though. I’ve got 3 advents this year (splurge but thank goodness for payment plans!) I’ve got the full Camels Yarn and Fibre Fox yarn advents but then TLGG’s 12 days Advent which I may keep for Boxing Day through to January 6th (that may be what it was actually made for!) like a Twixtmas advent! I have been searching for lots of advent style patterns that will show all the yarn off too to showcase them all together! Have fun with your Wicked advent. 💚🩷
Martyn, I think we just finished an advent by finishing Stephen’s MKAL. Now I’m working on my next Advent by doing Arne and Carlos Christmas Stocking KAL which will finish November 25th. Then on to my Christmas Advent—- Woolens and Nosh self stripping socks Advent where we knit one color stripe a day and hopefully by Christmas we’ll have a pair of socks. The best parts of the advents are not knowing the outcome, and the anticipation and excitement of the finished item. What fun to reach our goals a little at a time. Happy Advent Season !!!!!
My daughter and I have exchanged birthday and Easter advents before now. We’ve also thought of advents to build up to favourite sporting events like the Olympics and Tour de France. There must be a market for these…

I have heard of them for the Christmas season but I was quite intrigued with the idea of your Wicked advent leading up to the film launch.
The comment that Sarah Green made below has me quite excited. The idea of giving a January joy box seems quite fun.
I’ve have woolly mammoth ‘advent’ which is 12 mini skeins; I’m planning to open that as a 12 days of Christmas celebration!
