hello Martyn, glad the Gideon method is working. I am wondering what are you using to measure the time you are spending on one project: an app or just the good old clock and taking notes... ?

Hey Martyn, so proud of you for all you’ve accomplished in July. I’d love to do the dolls but postage from the UK always stifles my purchases. I can afford the kits but the added postage does me in.

In July I started Stephen’s Dustland Cardigan, and finished two shawls I’ve been working on, one of which was my Shawlogrophy—- love the pattern—— but hate the colors and yarn that I chose. Therefore it sat until I pushed myself to finish it.

I’m loving this Knit365 Substack it’s spending time with a friend getting to know one another—- thanks for sharing.

Can’t wait for MKAL, I’d love to know what yarn we need so I can start looking—- you and Irena make it so much more fun—- thanks again!!!!

Similar to you, I go on holiday next weekend so have set myself a goal of finishing my West Knits contrast blast socks ✔️ and the Harriet Tubman doll before we go. I've already planned my projects to take - portable and fairly simple so I can craft on the car journey without using too much brain power! I agree completely about your holiday makes holding a special place due to the memories they hold too ❤️

Did you know that knit companion has a timer on it? I was thrilled by this. Latest shawl I've had the pattern open for 42 hours and 52 minutes...

I seemed to find a lot of hidden WIPs during July so the aim is to definitely get some of those finished! Love all your finished projects! Currently working on my Harriet doll ... I love her but my, what a skirt that is to crochet!!

I have two things to raise! One is you do know you should always stand in the same order? Like Ant and Dec? Swopping around is confusing. And two, do you ever feel self conscious about knitting in public? I do and I think I might even more so if I was a man! Any tips Martyn?

Lovely blog post Martin I am enjoying reading these. I am working on Rebecca the Sea Turtle at the moment and I'm really enjoying making her, she's only my second animal and I still need to finish my advent bird from last year lol

Regarding the gideon method during the mkal, you can regulate the hour you work on the other projects for example: 12mkal+4 (or3or6) hours for every other project in queue..bye from Vesna

Loving the blogs. Currently finishing edsadvent2020. Have tried to get her done in your dollalong earlier this year but now on the home stretch. Opposite to you, I crochet the clothes tighter ( and I was overstuffing) You are inspiring me to try some knitting. Let’s see if doesn’t just add to the UFOs!

Hey, hey!

Well, those achievements are something and the pictures bring up some memories.. 😎

But I had one thought - as an advanced knitter, when you're not able to do a simple hat without buying new yarn, there might be something wrong? 😂

So all good here haha

July: I finished the back of the Denali sweater, but didn’t CO the front, having decided it was too hot to work on. I’ve been working on it on and off since January. I knit up a Reba Cowl in Berroco Sesame which was warm work, but it was quick. I have a Hufflepuff scarf that I’m doing up for my youngest granddaughter (I hate the yarn, too dense), and I started and finished two pairs of socks, and started a third. I also have an Easy Asymmetrical Shawl that I sometimes love to work on. Sometimes.

August: Denali is the inspiration for taking up the Gideon Method, and 12-hour blocks seem do-able. The shawl, scarf, socks and cowl (does it count--It just needs blocking) are the other four. I used the socks to test the Method. I set a timer on my iPhone to 12:00:00 and started. When I was done, I noted the time I’d stopped. When I next started knitting, I made sure the timer was correctly set. When 12 hours were done (which went surprisingly quickly), I cheated as I only had the toes of my 2@at socks to do. I’m going to block the cowl, so I can CO something new....ooh! No, 2 somethings new! But Denali now moves up to first. I’m not normally a monogamous knitter, but this may help me finish important projects. Thanks, Martyn, for suggesting it!

PS 12 hours go quickly when you’re working on something you like. When you don’t like what you’re doing, 🙄

The hat looks awesome and also feels like a bit of synchronicity for me as I've been mulling over making one myself. The universe is telling me something.
