Just finished 2 hats for myself and 2 for Xmas gifts. Anxious to start the Toft advent with you this year. Also ready to start the hiberknitalong with Stephen. Are you getting in on that? Winter has truly begun
I am so jelly that you can walk outside in just a sweater. It is -18C here at the moment (Thursday morning) and we had close to a foot of snow I think last Friday and Saturday that involved significant shovelling and frustrating driving conditions if you did not have your winter tires on. I did, so I got to be driver for the weekend activities. It is currently also cloudy, dreary and was foggy when I left for work.
Work has been so busy - including a weekend conference - that I am exhausted when I get home at 8 pm and I am lucky if I can knit 1 row on my cosy Raingelt/Kermit the Shawl with my kermit green Walcot Yarns Opus yarn that feels sooo soft and cozy. I am really looking forward to a bit of time off this weekend to knit on Kermit, wind my yarn for the Hiberknitalong, and feed my Christmas cake. (I don't count work Christmas parties as time off really - my inner introvert just wants to stay home and knit, but it is the season.)
I look forward to seeing your gloves. I love your hat.
Oh wowzers, that temperature is definitely not something we're used to... definitely still t-shirt weather, although we're due a cold snap apparently this week!
I have two winter projects on the needles at the moment, Stephen West's Loxley, a hooded scarf and Apiary Knits' Stoney Creek Headband, a beautiful cabled headband. The scarf is for me and the headband for a friend, Howie of Howie doll fame. He threw me a curve ball when he chose two colors for a one color cable piece, but I went to Google and found how to do it. It's really quite easy.
Nice hat Martyn, thanks for the inspiration. And I love love love your Wicked shawl! I’ve subscribed to Curious Handmade Christmas Knitvent. There’s a lovely hat as part of that which I think I’ll do. Well, as well as a gorgeous wrap using all those minis we all collect! Not to mention the Hiberknitalong! Oh gosh I’m in Australia and it’s a heatwave, 34 today, not quite the weather for shawl knitting!
The weekend before last I finished a musselburgh hat. A cold snap toward the end of last week made me feel quite thankful to fold it up around my ears!

Hiberknitalong will be my first time joining in this year, I'm planning to start it on Christmas Eve as a special cast-on for me!

Oh that sounds fun doing a two-colour cable!

Good job knitting still in that temperature! I'm really happy we've moved into these cooler temperatures now!

I've got that on my to do list still, the pinhole start scares me haha! I need an hour to sit down and learn... did you find it fiddly?
I am trying to finish things.... a never ending list it seems.. my go go dynamo is sitting on a pile of wips!!
